Two days to discover some of the goodies of the Brembana Valley: from the wonderful frescoes of the Baschenis, to the incredible history of the Tasso Family, from ancient roads that marked the history of valley trade to skilled workers who, thanks to the use of the power of water, built and used hammers, mills and sawmills to create simple artifacts but of fundamental importance to life at the time.
Overnight stay in an ancient local home in the heart of one of the most beautiful medieval villages in Italy, where you will find peace and tranquility in a place suspended in time. The trip opens with the discovery of the structures of the Valtorta Ecomuseum: the mill and the hydraulic sawmill -operated for the occasion- so you can understand their history and operation thanks to the driving force of water. Next we will enter the ancient pretura house now the Alta Valle Brembana Ethnographic Museum, in whose rooms there are still centuries-old objects, recreating domestic environments and workplaces of times past. The journey continues to discover the history of the medieval village of Cornello dei Tasso and the family of the same name that gave birth to the modern postal system, and then we will delve into the history of the Baschenis Family, renowned fresco painters of the Upper Valley who left their mark on some of the local churches, such as the marvelous country church of San Ludovico al Bretto: a little gem you don’t expect! The exclusive overnight stay at La Tana del Tasso, in the heart of Cornello dei Tasso, will give you the chance to live in a timeless village, in an ancient local dwelling where modernity and tradition create an evocative atmosphere.
