– a two-hour walk in a naturalistic setting of extreme beauty, steeped in history. WHAT TO EXPECT The Ministry of Culture’s National Landscape Prize has been awarded to the Astino Valley in 2021, The Biodiversity Within the City: Bergamo’s Val d’Astino. This corner of Bergamo will thus be eligible to compete for the European Landscape Prize, announced by the Council of Europe. A loop walk through the valley will allow visitors to take in its natural aspects, historical presences such as the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the expertly restored former monastery of the Vallombrosani, and the farmsteads of a typically agricultural environment, the section of the Lorenzo Rota Botanical Garden where biodiversity is cultivated. An easy walk suitable for all ages, very enjoyable in all seasons, allowing you to get in tune with a harmonious landscape, to savor the colors and scents that mark the succession of the seasons with the blossoms of flax, fruit trees, vines, and woodland.
