\nThe bulwark<\/strong> is part of the fortifications built in the 16th century by the Republic of Venice to defend Bergamo, now a UNESCO site, and together with the Fara curtain wall protected the area between the S. Agostino and S. Lorenzo bulwarks.
Today it is a scenic and popular part of the walks along the walls, thanks to the tranquility of the area and the presence of various relaxation areas. <\/span><\/p>\n
\nHere, in fact, used to open up what the Bergamasks called ‘fup\u00f9,’ a large hole later filled in the 1930s with the rubble of abandoned and irretrievable houses of Citt\u00e0 Alta, demolished as part of the redevelopment plan initiated by engineer Luigi Angelini.
